Blog Action Day: When Real Estate Agents Go Green
By Sarah | October 15, 2007
Have you heard the blogger buzz? Today is the official Environmental Blog Action Day! Today is the day that bloggers from all arenas unite to address “the issue of the environment”.Â
So exactly what can real estate agents do to make this Earth a happier, healthier planet? Use both sides of the paper when printing sales contracts? Utilize paperless transaction services?  Skip the post office and e-mail listing flyers and personal promotions to past clients? While the trees will certainly appreciate this considerate conservation, there is another angle that could actually help you in your real estate marketing presence, as well. Nothing wrong with killing two birds with one stone, right? Disclaimer: Killing birds with or without stones is not typically a recommended environmental practice.
Have you considered becoming a certified “EcoBroker” in order to serve your community as an expert in environmental housing issues? Becoming an “EcoBroker” will allow you to function as an expert consultant in your area on such topics as energy-efficient technology for homes, renewable energy, green building and renovation, and transaction-related environmental issues. While the certification will set you back a few greenbacks, this could prove to be marketing dollars well spent. The certification claims to lead to increased market share and, of course, differentiation if properly promoted to your prospects and current clients. Your certification will certainly equip you with the tools and knowledge to make progressive recommendations to your clients and feed them with “green” related marketing pieces – all in paper-free e-mails or online promotions, of course!

Kudos to you for participating in blog action day.
It sounds like EcoBroker is a great program.
I decided to write a post of my own about an environmental issue that
might strike a cord with some real estate agents: Brazilian teak hardwood
floors and the destruction of the rain forest.
You can find it at:

Check it out.
Keep up the good work.
