3 Online Communities That Will Give Your Real Estate Business a Boost!
By NikNik | October 12, 2007

Can social networking really benefit your business? Absolutely! Social networking can give your real estate business additional online exposure, help you connect with peers, and even target potential clients. And it can be really fun too…so manage your time wisely. Three online communities that real estate agents should consider joining (do it now) are:
-
ActiveRain …great for connecting with peers, although consumers are not really visiting there purposefully. But your potential clients are using Google to locate agents and that’s how ActiveRain can pay off for you. Make sure to create a keyword rich profile description and you’ll be popping up on Google before you know it!
-
Facebook …is like MySpace’s more mature big brother and without the kaleidoscope of crap. Set up a profile and start adding friends (urge your current clients and past clients to join). And when you feel a little more comfortable with Facebook, consider creating a group where you share current listing info or promote local niche events. If you have a blog make sure that you are using BlogFriends to syndicate your RSS feed. You can even market more aggressively with Facebook Flyers (see Joel Burslem’s article “Marketing Yourself with Facebook Flyers”). Â
-
LinkedIn …a professional business based network that helps you make connections through your profile/online resume. Find potential clients and let them find you. For more on using LinkedIn, check out their blog.

All 3 are good suggestions - I’ve been on AR and LinkedIn for about a year, both definitely worth it.
I just started on FaceBook - your comment is perfect!

I totally agree that social networking is the now and the future of online real estate marketing. Every professional in real estate should be following what you are talking about with ActiveRain, Linkedin, and facebook. My company just created a Real Estate Social Network called Realedin.com. Here’s the link…http://realedin.com. Our intentions are to combine social networking with blogging in a free environment to allow for more effective online marketing for real estate professionals. I’d be interested in you letting me know what you think about it. Thanks for the great article!

I am a big fan of social marketing for Real Estate. I think it is just on the ground floor right now and will become the way business is done in the future. Active Rain is a great tool for sure. I have had excellent success with my blog there. It is highly ranked in google and has brought ne 5 new listings since July. Facebook and Linked in are also excellent. Check out my last blog post at Active Rain regarding a new social site called cre8buzz. You may interested in it yourself as it is a way to promote your blogs and websites
