Let Google Help You Supercharge Your Real Estate Marketing Research
By Sarah | September 28, 2007
Utilize the powers that be at Google to help you supercharge your real estate marketing in just a few simple clicks. Let Google filter through the masses of information available on the web to bring you the latest articles and posts on the topics of your choice. My suggestions: Real Estate Marketing, Real Estate Technology and, of course, Real Estate Business. You can select how many articles are shown at once under each News category and you can add as many News boxes as you can fit. Keeping the iGoogle homepage clean and simple, however, will help you to continue to notice the new articles without getting overwhelmed or distracted. Another tip, consider keeping your “Homepage” work related on your work computer. If you must add gadgets for other topics, consider adding a tab (Click “Add a tab” from your homepage) so that you have to consciously click away from your work focus. Warning: Gadgets may be habit forming! Beware of the time warp that may occur while browsing the never-ending list of Google gadgets.
I also like the suggestion by Stephen Jagger at the Ubertor Real Estate Blog to use Google Alerts to notify you by email when your name is mentioned on the web.
Need help? Follow these simple steps to set up your new Google gadget:
From your iGoogle homepage, go to add stuff and search for “news”. Look for “Google News – Customized” and select “Add it now”. When you go back to your homepage, you will find the “Google News” gadget just waiting for you to send it on its web-wide search. Move the gadget to your preferred location by simply dragging the gadget to the perfect spot and then type “Real Estate Marketing” in the topic area. Select the number of stories you want to display, click “Save” and you’re set. You can always go back to revise the topic of an existing news box by clicking on the down arrow in the upper right corner. Also, simply repeat the process to add another news box for a new topic.Â
